FAQs“What waste can be placed in the bins?” Any general rubbish can be put in the bins including vegetation, metals, general building waste and general household items. “What can’t be placed in the bins?” Food scraps, chemicals and liquids (eg. Paint), asbestos and tyres. "Can we hire a bin for asbestos?” Yes, but it needs to be solely asbestos, not mixed with general rubbish. We hold a license to transport asbestos but it needs to be prepared following EPA guidelines. Please contact the office for further information. “Where does my rubbish go?” All waste is taken to our waste and recycling depot at Woodside for sorting and recycling purposes. It is then transferred to either licensed waste depots or recycling facilities. “How do I pay for my bin?” You can pay for the bins on delivery to the driver by either cash or cheque. Credit Card payments can be made securely over the phone or EFT details can be supplied. “How long can I have a bin for?” The bins are normally hired over a 5-day period. If you fill your bin early you can call the office to have it collected earlier. Arrangements can be negotiated to extend the hire period if required. “Where do Hop, Skip and Dump deliver?” We deliver to most areas in Adelaide. We cover all of the Adelaide Hills, the CBD and some southern and northern areas. Please call us if you are unsure if we deliver in your area – you may be pleasantly surprised. “How much notice do I need to give?” We normally require at least 24-48 hours notice but same-day delivery is sometimes possible. We recommend booking as early as possible to avoid disappointment. “How do I know what size I need?” The easiest way to calculate what size is needed is to work out approximately how many trailer loads of rubbish you have. A general guide is that 1m3 equates to approx. 1 x 6*4 Trailer load. Therefore meaning a 2m3 bin equals approximately 2 x 6*4 trailer loads and a 4m3 bin will hold approximately 4 x 6*4 trailers. (Please use the above example as a general guide only) “How do I know how much 1 tonne is?” If you are filling a bin with general waste (eg. Wood, household rubbish, green waste etc.), it is not expected that you will exceed the weigh limit If you have heavy waste, such as concrete or bricks etc, we usually use the guide that 1 x 6*4 trailer (or 1m3) is approximately 1 Tonne. If you require further help with this please do not hesitate to contact our office. |
